How Career Signal handles a minor’s data is a design decision, not a legal afterthought. Here is exactly what happens.
Local-first by default
Your assessment answers, scores and reports are stored in your own browser (localStorage on this device). By default nothing is sent to any server, and clearing your browser data removes it completely.
You hold the delete button
Every report has Export (download your data as a file) and 'Delete my data' (wipe everything from this browser, immediately and irreversibly).
Optional AI features
If the optional AI features are enabled on a deployment, the text needed for that feature (e.g. your already-computed report summary for the report chat) is processed by our AI provider to generate the response. AI never decides your scores — scoring is fully deterministic and offline.
Optional cloud sync
A deployment may offer cloud storage (e.g. for accessing reports across devices or school programmes). That is opt-in, clearly labelled, and governed by the deployment's full privacy policy.
No ad tracking
We don't run third-party advertising trackers on assessment or report pages.
